I have been reading as much as possible about this behavior. Some of this behaviors seem to be and some do not. For instance, there is no contempt, in fact, he is very supportive. He also never says he is going to leave. He finally did leave but he never said he would, he just did it 2 weeks ago.
The part that makes me think he is Avoidant is that he didn't address my feelings. I always felt he didn't take care of my feeling. Never asked what he could do to help make things better. If I needed more from him he didn't actually try to give it. If I said something like, "Don't forget about me". He would say, I could never forget about you! And mean it.
When we first started seeing each other he told me that he didn't want a casual relationship. He wanted to marry me. After a few months, he never talked about it anymore. I would ask him if he still wanted to and he would say YES. But he never did a thing about it.
He called me every night and would want to keep me on the phone for hours. I enjoyed it but sometimes I would get tired but loved him so I never said anything.
Lately, he still called every night but we didn't talk as long.
We live 12 hours from one another so talking is mostly all we did.
He had just been here 2 weeks before he went silent on me. We got along wonderfully and things were fine when he left.
Does this sound like the behavior of an avoidant?
Thanks for any help. Not only is my heart broken but I am very confused about his sudden change and in him dropping me. He told me just recently that I am his rock, that I changed his life and that I was perfect for him. I have heard they come back sometimes. I am just wondering.
