Relationships, phases of them, or the loss of them, can initiate you into the Hero , Or Heroine's journey. If you recognize what is happening, you can have a perspective and prepare a little better. 🌸 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hero%27s_journeyJoseph Campbell taught a lot about this journey, and how it is portrayed in myths in all cultures throughout time. beautiful and powerful wisdom.

lilyg the phase you are at in your relationship can be this for you. For me, letting go of my partner to allow him to do his soul work, holding his heart as gently as my own. while suffering what felt like a terrible loss only to find deeper peace and valuable gains in my continued relationship with him- that's been a hero's journey. confronting all my fears to learn how to love him well enough to do this at all has been a hero's journey. there is a purpose in all pain and without it, things won't change. pain precedes change, without exception. we have to choose what change that will be. will it be progressive, toward health and healing? or regressive , toward more pain, without remedy? To be initiated into the Hero's Journey is a major event that brings about transformation at the deepest levels.

I do feel that I've been embarking in this emotionally braver than I've ever felt in a long time. I guess I'm trying to be the heroine of my own life, with a lot of allies on the way, of course! I guess this is the feel people tell you of 'truly being at peace on your own'. He's right know in a moment of transition too, and I see him very happy. Everything will fall into place, and I know that whatever happens, we'll both be alright. Thank you for this reminder. It's great that you've found your purpose in all of this, I too think it's the redemptive narrative of our lives that help us develop a better self. Hold your heart gently too for your heroine journey

Thanks for posting this. It is an interesting way of looking at it. Having been through most of the journey, if not all of it, it resonates with me. I think it helps me see why certain parts of it were so challenging, but also the ultimate rewards/benefit.
I wonder if we really only go through it once though.

i have been on a hero's journey over and over with various aspects of my psyche, my life.... any difficulty that leads to transformation could really be seen as a hero journey if the invitation is accepted and the hero accepts the journey. Joseph Campbell did fascinating work on this motif and has a video series about it- you should watch it! i have a feeling you would really appreciate it.
