I'm having trouble taking care of myself right now. I'm feeling very isolated. Don't have many friends here and I've tried reaching out to acquaintances but they are all very busy. I'm living alone for a few months while my mom is away. I'm not coping very well with all this time alone. Anyone have ideas for how to get out and be social? Or just how to take better care of myself while I'm struggling through the early stages of no contact with my ex? Feeling lonely was the main reason that I tried to keep him in my life for so long. I've been going days at a time without talking to anyone... it's not good.

Learn how to rock climb. Take a dance class. Sign up for an improv class.

I've been going days at a time without talking to anyone... it's not good. When I feel bad, I go to my closest friends for laughter & support. Watch some films/comedies you’ve been meaning to watch. Go to the bookstore and buy a book. Go for a walk or out to the park and read. I force myself to go see a movie or some live music. You’d be surprised at the energy you get from being out. Hope you feel better soon.

What is happening in your neibourhood ? IT is possible to do Something where You live ? Maybe Something Like This: The film "THE OTHER PERSON", only 2 minutes long, won the best short film award at the Film Festival. The director is 20 years old. The film portrays how people isolate themselves in technology, and forget one of the best things in life, human coexistence with love and brotherhood. m.youtube.com/watch?v=s7whdSQDFL8

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I'm going to look into activities in my area. I work from home about 80% of the time so that's not helping. Turns out it's quite difficult to make new friends as an adult.
