youtu.be/ytE6onGWE5IImmigration into the United States is fraught with challenges and traumatic experiences, largely unaddressed by mental health practitioners. Bramble The current anti-immigrant, socio-political atmosphere contributes to a climate where immigrants are seen as undesirable, and a threat to economy, safety and culture. Moreover, recent priorities for arrest and deportation is effecting the everyday fabric of daily life for this population. Immigrant families and mixed-status families are experiencing traumatic stress and affecting their ability to work, attend to medical needs, engage in school related activities and to socialize. As a result, immigrants, asylum seekers and refugees are experiencing unprecedented heightened levels of terror, isolation, and mental health issues. The goal of the workshop is for participants to gain understanding of how the IFS model provides the language and resource to help immigrant and asylum seekers heal the pre and post migratory trauma. Through the use of case studies and video sessions, this course will address the highly stressful and potentially traumatic experiences that immigrants undergo at different stages of the migration process, and IFS interventions that support the process of healing. We will review US immigration policy, trauma-informed service delivery, when assessing and servicing vulnerable populations. The workshop will provide a brief overview of the neurobiology of trauma in relation to the asylum process and collaboration with interpreters.

Facing fear in a traumatized world youtu.be/1EEYMI7ibEsFacing Fear in a Traumatized World, with Tara Brach Unprocessed fear cuts us off from our full aliveness and spirit, and it separates us from others. This talk looks at how we bring healing to the trauma and deep fears that cause us to dissociate from our body. We focus on ways we increase safety, diminish shame and then, with a courageous, embodied and compassionate presence, learn to contact and integrate fear into our larger awareness

youtu.be/eLdafQqX5OkWhen a major armed conflict takes place in our world, there are so many wounds left behind – visible and invisible. From those who are physically in the war zone, to the massive numbers of people displaced within and outside borders, to the many responders and volunteers offering aid and support, each individual is being impacted in unimaginable ways. In this conversation, we acknowledge the short and long-term physical and psychological harm that war causes. We acknowledge that also, amidst massive discord between states or nations, survivors of past wars and related conflicts may be profoundly destabilized and activated as well. The world experiences turmoil, upheaval, and uncertainty on so many levels. Thus, our discussion this month with international humanitarian subject matter experts, also trained in neurobiological methods for trauma resolution and crisis stabilization, will be sharing their experience and perspectives, and resources for those who may be affected. In light of present circumstances, this month’s conversation will be timely, important, and healing for all who attend. Colette Rausch, JD, SEP, Director, Neuroscience, Trauma, and Peacebuilding at Mary Hoch Foundation and Think Peace Learning & Support Hub Colette Rausch has spent over 20 years working in war-affected countries around the globe to support justice and peace and witnessed firsthand the role of chronic stress and trauma in violent conflict and its effect on people and communities. These experiences inspired her to work at the intersection of trauma and peacebuilding. Colette’s work includes supporting individuals, organizations and communities on trauma awareness and resolution. She holds the position of Research Professor with the Mary Hoch Center for Reconciliation at George Mason University’s Carter Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution, and is the Director of Neuroscience, Trauma and Peacebuilding at the Think Peace Learning and Support Hub. Colette is the editor of NeuroPeace, an open source, on-line publication exploring the role of neuroscience in peacebuilding. She is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) on the neurobiology and resolution of trauma. Previously, Colette was Senior Advisor for Neuroscience and Peacebuilding at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). Prior to USIP, Colette served in senior leadership roles focusing on human rights and rule of law with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe’s (OSCE) Mission in Kosovo. She also served in the Nevada’s Attorney-General’s Office, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Nevada Federal Defender’s Office

Peter Levine youtu.be/-wVn1T3OuZEAround the world people everywhere are being impacted by war, directly and indirectly, at any give time. Join us for the this conversation with Dr, Peter Levine and Dr. Abi Blakeslee as we create this special edition series of SE™ Community Conversations in which we will explore the ways in which war is impacting our communities, our sense of safety, and our collective futures. Founded by Peter, this organization exists to educate and support helpers around the planet who are serving in the trenches and supporting the hearts and minds of persons dislocated by the threat of war. We believe it is possible to shift the physiology of upset, anxiety, and panic so that people can experience relief through the application of SE-infomred resources. At time of publishing, this video is made in part as a support to our parter colleagues in the SE Ukraine Task Force, working throughout Eastern Europe and around the globe to bring a sense of healing, peace and safety wherever possible.
