I'm wondering if anybody has had any experience with plant medicines, or psychedelic psychotherapy in helping an avoidant type to no longer repress everything that they're used to repressing. Is there any hope for avoidant types in terms of someday having intimacy?
I understand the firewall concept that avoidant types have, in that their brains are structured in a way as to block intimacy and emotion, because it once served the purpose of protecting them. It seems potentially promising to me that substances such as psilocybin and LSD, essentially "light up" much more of the brain than usual, allowing for new pathways and connections to be formed.

I've also heard MDMA has been shown to help avoidants access emotion. My ex did it three times and was the most effectionate and especially verbally affectionate in our 10 years together.
