Hello.
I am seventeen, female, and recently figured out I have severe anxious-preoccupied attachment issues after suffering a severe argument with my best friend. I'm pretty much a textbook case, compounded by the fact that I'm home-schooled. What do I do? Is there hope for people like me to change attachment styles?
Thanks

Well if you go off to college a lot of schools offer free counseling services to students so that could be a great resource. I'd say figure out what about anxious attachment is most problematic for you. For me it was emotional regulation so I have worked on that with my therapist. For some in may be a tendency to ruminate obsessively or very low self esteem. You need to figure out what it is specifically that your attachment style makes difficult and attack that. There are lots of therapies with some benefit. I have read EMDR and DBT have some success with attachment issues.
