I've always heard people saying how important it is for parents to be in a healthy relationship so they can be role models for their children. I never gave any thought to it, weird I know. I realized that I didn't have ANY couple like that growing up. I do have a couple like that in my life now and today I was thinking about how they treat each other and realised,I've NEVER been open in my relationships because I've never witnessed it. Of course there are other issues too, but this adds to it. What I'm trying to say is from now on I'm going to observe those couples and taking examples from them. Just thought it'd be a great tip to share! I didn't have that modeled for me either, not even close! But healthy is my new normal. I looked to couples around me that I saw treating each other with love, courtesy, respect, trust, camaraderie. I singled out couples who reflect what I want to achieve. I read good advice and ACTUALLY TOOK IT. I developed a standard over time as I learned, and held myself to it. I have never had it modeled either. My parents have a AP/DA dynamic and I guess I saw the AP as being very loving and quite mean at the same time.
