It seems both are very similar. And the traits both schizoid and DA can be contributing factors in commitment phobic. Are they different or similar from the same root but only different names?
Any ideas?

This is like saying AP and Borderline are the same thing, because there are some traits in common.

Amen Anne and mary!!
I'm so tired of people conflating attachment styles with personality disorders. Imagine if they did this with physical issues?
Is Acne related to Syphilis?

this kind of mentality and questions addressed to a forum of attachment injured individuals (including DA) demystifies the dump, in my opinion.
Posing such an ignorant question to a support forum of attachment injured individuals who are here healing and even trying to help you heal, points to a need to examine your own issues. Any ideas?
yet another person needing to pathologize avoidants. go figure!
hi all, still lurking when i have a moment, but this post made my eyes roll out of my head. i saw it coming!

Sorry, I may not have been sensible asking this question. I did not post this to offend anyone here. I was still so confused with my ex’s behaviour in the relationship with him and trying to recover from a heartbreak by researching more about maching theories and reading old posts from here. Please understand that it was not my intention to hurt anyone.

I agree that you have to be careful not to conflate personality disorder and attachment styles. However, I could see why someone new to studying all this might be like "What was that person in my life's deal-- was it a personality disorder or an attachment issue??" and when you read random internet articles sometimes they don't differentiate well. Like you read one article and you're like "Huh, maybe that person was a sociopath" and then you read another article and you're like "Or maybe DA" and then you're confused.

Please understand that it was not my intention to hurt anyone. It's not. Don't worry about it. There are no wrong questions when trying to understand something. But as said, one is an attachment style, the other is a personality disorder. Personality disorders (PD) are a class of mental disorders characterized by enduring maladaptive patterns of behavior, cognition, and inner experience, exhibited across many contexts and deviating markedly from those accepted by the individual's culture. Attachment theory (in adults) deals with the theory of attachment in adult relationships including friendships, emotional affairs, adult romantic relationships (and in some cases inanimate objects known as "transitional objects".)
