That sounds nice, but I also think no relationship on earth will always bring you joy. I just think if you're going to be with someone longterm, there will be ups and downs. So deciding to end if it if it isn't a constant joy-train ensures you will not be in any long-term relationships. Maybe that's an overly harsh way to put it, but it seems unrealistic. Agreed, though I get the feeling not many people still view things this way. Your phone broke? Get a new one. PC not running as smoothly as you want? Get another. Relationship getting predictable and you have to work to make it better? Look for someone else, because if it takes work, it's not meant to be. I think a lot of people are going to end up very unhappy with mindsets like these. My brother ended a long term relationship because it was no longer " exciting". I think the perceived perspective of unlimited "choice" that the Internet has provided is exaccerbating the "throw away and move on" problem.

I think the perceived perspective of unlimited "choice" that the Internet has provided is exaccerbating the "throw away and move on" problem. Likely, in part. I think another core reason are the expectations people seem to have about relationships; they always need to be exciting, shouldn't take any effort, you shouldn't have to depend on the other person, problems are a reason to end things rather than a way to develop ourselves in a relationship, etc. It's made for a shallow way of relating to eachother and a lack of the character needed to make a relationship successful, in my humble opinion. (I'm starting to sound like an old fart now, I know 😂)
